Fake iPad Opinions

Buying a new kind of product sight unseen is foolish.

This great line comes from PCWorld in a clever article titled iPad Pre-Orders: For Idiots Only. I find it amusing that many consumer electronics are bought “sight unseen” and we never think twice about it. People bought a Playstation 3 and/or Nintendo Wii without ever playing a game. Lines were formed to purchase iPhones without making one phone call. I could go on. The majority of people who make these purchases seem content, even ecstatic, with their choice.

Please don’t misconstrue the above paragraph. The internet is a place to share opinions. I do it myself. Differing opinions make people smarter because they provide a view that broadens perspective. Therefore, I know there are people who believe buying products before testing them is “foolish,” and I respect that opinion.

Opinions should be made to encourage thoughts, not to inflame emotions. Too many articles on the iPad (or Apple in general) have really not contained any news or opinion, but just statements to increase page views. This is becoming a common occurrence on many websites.

Guess I just felt the need to say something, and I haven’t posted much in a week or two. I’ll have more to say about the iPad soon (It will definitely meet my needs). To end this post though, I’ll just let this awesome line from the article (with some commentary) do the talking.

One positive sign in all this iPad hoopla: One of my breathless local TV news stations had its tech reporter at an Apple Store Thursday night hoping to find people lined up to camp out so they could be first in line Friday morning (at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time, 5:30 a.m. Pacific) to order an iPad… But guess what: There was no line.

Who lines up to reserve something when they can go online and do it?
